Thai Yoga Therapy is a beautiful and powerful combination of massage, acupressure, gentle stretching, twisting, energy work and meditation, all rolled into one experience. It is performed on the floor in loose, comfortable clothing. In receiving Thai Yoga Therapy one is also receiving the benefits of the practice of yoga. Thai Yoga Therapy incorporates rhythmic motion, palming and thumbing along energy lines, and breathwork, creating a slow, flowing “dance” around and with the recipient’s body. In addition to stretching and toning the muscles, Thai Yoga Therapy relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, helps stimulate metabolism, boosts the immune system, and balances the body energetically, inducing a calm mental state. The practice provides the recipients with both a physical and an energetic massage.
The Spirit of Thai Massage
Thai massage is an ancient, sacred and unique form of yogic healing rooted in the philosophy of Yoga and Ayurvedic medicine. Thai massage is also deeply interwoven with Buddhism and has traditionally been taught and practiced in or near temples. Thai massage is one of the four main branches of Thai medicine, the other three are herbal medicines, diet, and spiritual practices. This massage is also seen as a spiritual practice, a way to cultivate the four divine states of Buddhism; Metta (loving kindness), Karuna (compassion), Mudita (sympathetic joy), and Uppekha (non-prejudice). It is regarded as a practical application of Metta and is also a meditation practice.
Thai Foot Reflexology
This treatment begins with a gentle, cleansing foot bath in warm waters scented by citrus, herbs and flowers from my garden. Heated towels keep the legs and feet warm as I apply my own handmade exfoliating aromatherapy foot powder with vigorous massage to awaken and stimulate circulation and energy in the feet. Next is a sweeping and gentle essential oil massage for the foot and lower leg that will send you floating off into clouds of bliss and relaxation. Then you are welcomed back to your newly invigorated feet with gentle grounding and energetic balancing.
Matece creates a unique therapeutic massage experience based upon your unique goals.
