Awaken Training Module - 100 Hour

Over the course of the 100 hours, we will thoroughly explore the alignment of yoga asana and how it relates to your body, so that you will have an understanding of how to adapt the practice to your unique needs.  

Several styles of yoga will be introduced including Hatha, Vinyasa, Gentle, Yin and Restorative.  We will also give a great amount of time to the philosophical texts from which the practices come, and the spiritual practices of devotional yoga.  We will study the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, participate in meditation, chanting and puja.

Awaken the path of yoga within you.  Intended for practitioners of all levels, this program is perfect for anyone who wishes to dedicate themselves to the study and practices of yoga.

During the Awaken Module you will learn about detailed alignment-based Hatha Yoga, explore meditation and pranayama, study yoga philosophy, and learn about kirtan, mantras, and chanting.  Whether you are brand new to yoga practices, or have been a yoga practitioner for years, this 100 hour program meets you where you are.

The Awaken Module provides a deepening of your experience with the varied practices along the path of yoga and is a complete program in and of itself.  As such, it is a perfect starting place for those seeking to take their personal practice to the next level. 

For those who intend to teach, it is the first step before continuing on the the 120 Hour Immerse Module which prepares one for the honored seat of yoga teacher.  Many start out on this path with no intention to teach, but find that as their own practice deepens, the ability to share that embodied wisdom with others naturally blossoms from within.

Thursday 5 – 10pm
Friday 6 – 9pm
Saturday 9:00am – 12:30pm and 1:30pm – 6:00pm
Sunday 9:00am – 12:30pm and 1:30pm – 5:00pm


Spring 2018

Thursdays:  March 1, March 8, March 22, April 12

Weekends: March 2-4, March 23-25,  April 6 -8, and 20 -22

Weekly Preparation:

1 – 3  hours (includes reading, personal development and various exercises for individual classes)

Students may not miss more than 1 weekend.  All hours missed must be made up.

How to Register:

  1. Submit the online application.  Register for the Fall Session HERE.
  2. Upon receipt of your application, a link will be sent for you to pay the $300 Registration Deposit.
  3. Receive your acceptance letter.
  4. Pay full tuition of $1,500 no later than 30 days prior to the start of your training.  (Your registration deposit counts toward your tuition.)
  5. Payment Plan – a monthly payment plan is available.  See below.

The tuition fee covers all hours with Matece and guest instructors, instructional resources and yoga classes with Matece.

You are responsible for purchasing the required texts.


You must secure your registration through payment of a partially non-refundable $300 Registration Deposit.

Monthly Payment Plan:

A Monthly Payment Plan is available upon written request.

The Payment Plan lets you pay your tuition payment across a period of 3-6 months. Payments are as follows: Pay the $300 Registration Deposit 30 days prior to the beginning of the course (or earlier) and monthly payments of $450 scheduled each month from the date of your initial payment. All payments (100% of the full tuition) must be paid in full prior to receiving your Certificate of Completion. The total tuition with the Payment Plan is thus $1,650 ($150 more than when paying the full tuition 30 days prior to the program beginning).

Refund Policy:

$100 of the Registration Deposit is not refundable. $200 of the Registration Deposit is refundable up until 30 days prior to the start of the course and is forfeited after that. Two weeks prior to the course beginning 60% of the full tuition is refundable. One week prior to the course beginning there are no refunds.

Asana Labs for in depth study of postural alignment

Learn the specific details of individual yoga poses as well as the major families of asanas.   Learn the alignment principles, energetic actions, the preparatory poses and counter poses, benefits and risks,  hands on assists, modifications and use of props for each.

Guided practice in Gentle, Yin & Restorative Yoga

Time will be given to the study of the more gentle forms and teaching methodologies of Gentle, Yin and Restorative  and learn how to skillfully guide students in more introspective, slow and healing styles of yoga.

Guided practice in mindfulness meditation, pranayama and chanting

Learn many different pranayama and meditation techniques as well as the effects, benefits and contraindications of each.  Learn the proper application of pranayama and meditation and how to introduce these aspects of yoga to beginners as well as seasoned practitioners.

Personal Yoga Practice:

Students are required to attend a minimum of 3 yoga classes per week throughout the duration of the training.

During the training weekends, Matece’s Saturday and Sunday morning classes can count as 2 for that week.  During the other weeks of the training, you must attend 3 yoga classes of any style with any teacher.


Students are required to commit to a daily 20 minute meditation practice throughout the duration of the training.

Mindfulness is absolutely necessary not only for our teaching, but for our LIFE.  It is the foundation upon which the deeper, more subtle aspects of yoga can be revealed.  If you do not already have a meditation practice, there will be resources given to support you.  Throughout the training there will be various contemplative journaling exercises to complete after meditation.
