Showing Up: An invitation to meet yourself and others in the exploration and practice of meditation.

Take a deep dive into a new mediation modality at a monthly workshop, then practice at our weekly community meditation. (You don’t have to commit to this as a series—you can sign up and show up anytime!)

People of any faith (or no faith), all body types, and all abilities are invited to explore different approaches to meditation, breathwork, posture, and the energy of meditating in a group setting. Experiment with what works for you!

You’ll have the option to meditate seated on the floor, in a chair, or lying down. The studio has bolsters, yoga mats, blankets, and chairs, but you are also welcome to bring your own mat, meditation cushion, or bench with you.

About the instructor

These workshops and sessions are developed and led by Tracy Zollinger Turner, 2025 graduate of NHY’s 200-hour teacher training, and 20+ year student of Buddhist philosophy and meditation. Her practice is informed by teachers in the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, Nourishing Heart Yoga, meditation instructors such as Sebene Selassie, and a host of difficult life experiences and circumstances that pushed her to find new ways through with flawed grace.

October 5th Showing Up: Practicing Compassion in Meditation and Daily Life

This month, we will work with practices that cultivate compassion and resilience to help bring more ease and kindness into our daily lives. At the center is the Tibetan Buddhist meditation practice of tonglen, a guided breathing meditation for transforming stress into compassion to help us live with less harm and more care for ourselves and others.

November 2nd Showing Up:  Working with the mind and heart

In November, we will explore lojong (“mind training”)— a Buddhist practice designed to help us meet life’s challenges with greater wisdom. At the heart of lojong practice is bodhicitta—the wish to awaken care and kindness not just for ourselves, but for all beings.

Through lojong slogans, guided, and silent mediation, we’ll work on softening our unhelpful thought patterns, transforming frustration and self-doubt into opportunities for patience, openness, and kindness.

December 7th Showing Up: Loving-Kindness Meditation

In December, we’ll explore loving-kindness (metta), a gentle form of mediation that helps us cultivate kindness and goodwill toward ourselves and others. As we consider what it means to expand care to loved ones, strangers, and even those we find difficult, we’ll also learn ways that daily off-the-cushion practices of gratitude and sympathetic joy can support us in softening and opening our hearts.
