Nourishing Community:

A Fundraiser Class to

Support Exodus Refugee Immigration

Saturday, June 13, 2026 | 1:30–3:00 PM | Nourishing Heart Yoga Studio, Bloomington

Come as you are. This 90-minute offering is an invitation to rest, reconnect, and give back — all at once.

Join Julie Madewell of Yoga Madewell, Shelley Landis of Rooted in Love, LLC, and certified sound healer Tessa Bent for a community fundraiser class benefiting Exodus Refugee Immigration, an Indiana organization dedicated to welcoming refugees as they rebuild safety and stability in their new communities.

We’ll open with a brief, heartfelt introduction from a representative of Exodus Refugee Immigration, offering a window into the meaningful work they do and the people they serve right here in our community.

From there, Shelley will guide you through a gentle grounding practice drawing on her expertise as a certified EMDR trauma therapist and polyvagal-informed yoga teacher. Through accessible movement, simple bilateral tapping, and guided imagery — approaches that work with your nervous system to support a felt sense of safety and calm — this portion of the class is designed to help you settle into your body and arrive fully in the present moment. No prior experience with any of these practices is needed; Shelley will guide you through everything.

Julie will then lead you into a restorative yoga session — a slow, supported practice rooted in accessibility, choice, and ease. While you rest in supported poses, Tessa will offer live sound healing using crystal singing bowls, drums, and other instruments, creating a sonic landscape for deep relaxation and nervous system balance. Together, this final layer of the class is an invitation to release, integrate, and simply be held.

This class is designed to be truly accessible and welcoming to all bodies, all experience levels, and all backgrounds. You do not need prior yoga experience. You do not need to be flexible, strong, or “good at” anything. You only need to show up — and even that can look however it needs to look for you.

What to bring: A yoga mat, a water bottle, and comfortable clothes you can relax in. Bolsters and blankets will be provided. If you have a favorite pillow, blanket, or eye covering that helps you rest, you’re warmly welcome to bring those too.
