The Nourishing Heart 300 Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training is for yoga teachers who have completed a 200 hour program and who wish to expand their yoga education, knowledge and skill in multiple disciplines. We also welcome any student who wishes to deepen in their own personal exploration of yoga without the intent to teach.
This diverse and comprehensive program provides specialized tools for professional growth and personal transformation, while working with esteemed mentors and like-minded colleagues in a non-dogmatic, inspirational environment.
The Advanced program focuses on developing and refining the primary elements of excellent yoga teaching. The “advanced” quality is not so much about learning advanced variations of asanas. Rather, it refers to the depth of understanding we embody regarding how we live and teach the practices of yoga.
You will develop a broader set of skills and insights into your own ongoing personal growth and development as a conscious, compassionate human being and teacher.
We will study, with considerably greater depth, the primary elements of excellent yoga teaching: effectively teaching asana with a wide range of modifications for students at any level, opportunity to cultivate a deeper relationship to meditation and pranayama while learning how to instruct from personal experience, use of effective hands on assists, intelligent sequencing, ways to infuse the wisdom of yoga philosophy into your yoga classes, and more.
This program is designed to be accessible, and allows you to deepen your knowledge in varied areas of study.
Our Coursework consists of 12 weekends, once per month for a year. Additional time is required to complete the 100 Hour Evidence Informed Seva Yoga Project and the 20 Hour Mentorship. These will be scheduled seperately.
Students are required to attend every session included in the Coursework. We understand that students have important commitments outside of the classroom. Should extenuating circumstances impact attendance, students are permitted to miss a class. It is the responsibility of the student to pick up any missed learning material by coordinating with a cohort to record and/or take notes during class. If you foresee having to miss over 3 weekends of the Coursework, we suggest waiting until the next program offering to register.
20 Hours with Matece and Cohort
included in the One Year Program
Mentorships are a valuable way of growing as a teacher, gaining unique insider access to a senior teacher’s methodology, and accumulating a significant amount of contact hours towards your certificate. Over the course of 12 weeks, you will receive (and learn to offer) personalized, actionable feedback on the art of teaching yoga. You will practice, study, and complete homework assignments to help you cultivate and consistently offer your best, most authentic self. You’ll learn the skills of collaboration and leadership within your Cohort and as an honored part of the Nourishing Heart Yoga community.
Becoming a great teacher requires talent and it requires training. But it also takes dedication, reflection, and lots of experience. Our program focuses directly on these important and oft-neglected elements of learning. Through observation, peer feedback, and personalized coaching, you’ll discover your strengths and challenges, develop strategies to evolve your instruction, and take decisive action.
100 Hours
included as part of the One Year Program
The Evidence Informed Seva Yoga Program brings together the practice of Seva, or selfless service, while teaching students the principles of evidence-based yoga research. Students explore ways to use the knowledge generated through this science to inform personal yoga practice and teaching. This program is guided by Matece Skow and supports students in aligning the spirit and heart of yoga with scientific research to create and apply evidence-based yoga curriculums for use with a target condition or student population. This program begins in January and students will work consistently on the project throughout the year.
