Studies in Iyengar Yoga: Workshop Series on Ease with Shoulders, Back, and Rest in Restorative Poses

In the midst of life’s challenges, and in the midst of the challenges of our yoga practices, how might we learn to move and rest with more ease?

This workshop series offers three sessions of instruction in Iyengar yoga, with each session addressing one frequent locus of dis-ease in our modern lives – our shoulders, our backs, and (perhaps most importantly) our rest, here in restorative poses. Each workshop session will offer guidance in remaining attentive to and aware of the body and mind and their fluctuations in our yoga postures; it will also offer a range of modified poses for participants to explore.
Characterized by care and attention, Iyengar yoga is a systematic practice accessible to a broad range of people, no matter their physical and/or mental abilities. It emphasizes alignment and awareness of the body’s limitations and possibilities, often using props to build toward more profound movement and stasis. The workshop sessions are open to all levels of yoga practice, including beginners, and is offered to practitioners both with and without Iyengar yoga experience.
